About

My work is predominantly influenced by movement, both emotional and physical. As both a poet and a dancer I aim to incorporate various parts of my creative self on the page. My goal is to use texture and color in my abstract acrylic pieces to recreate the emotional turbulence of both the written word and dynamic movement. Most pieces contain my own hidden poetry, the only clear symbolism in the line that makes up the title. I then dance across the canvas to fill the negative space with texture and color to obscure the written words.

At this moment in time, I consider myself an artist in transit. My artistic process is driven by my instinctive needs at any given moment and thus shifts overtime. Over the process of a week, one painting’s meaning might change half a dozen times. Maybe it looks different under the sun than it does while listening to the rain outside with a window cracked. Although each piece is grounded within a core literary meaning, I aim to allow my perspective to shift each time I look upon it.

For the time being, my art will act as an emotional catharsis while I pursue a Masters in Social Work. I am so lucky to have been featured in a gallery, a showcase, and to have been reviewed by the Washington Post after just one year of sharing my art. Thank you for your continued support!
